By the end of our first year after inception, we received a good number of students even though some people were still apprehensive about going abroad. But because of our genuine counseling and assistance, many students from even middle class families received hundred percent scholarships from reputed universities from the countries like the USA, the UK, Australia and Germany for their higher education. Gradually, the negative attitude towards foreign education changed, and the parents and the educators also began to view it positively. As a result, the trend of going abroad has become very popular in recent years. It was so not only among the students from the city centre but also among the students from village and far remote areas. This number has grown dramatically these days. At least, 5000 students attend preparation classes only at Orbit annually, and many of them go abroad for higher degrees in full scholarships.
In this way, Orbit has not only served the students by helping them to begin their respective careers but also explored the new avenues of educational business. When we started the institution, hardly a few organizations of this type were in the city. Now the number is increasing dramatically, and it has already crossed the four digits. Orbit, being a pioneer, feels a sense of pride as the growing professionals are doing well in the market, and always urges them all to provide genuine services and to fallow code of conducts according to the ethics of the educational business.
The milestone achieved by Orbit can be credited to the relentless effort of the entire Orbit team and the support of its well wishers. This rapid growth of Orbit is made possible by the Orbit students who have trusted it over the years and, we believe they will continue to do so in the days to come. In fact, it is their faith and support that has elevated Orbit to stand out as one of the leading and most popular education institutions in the country. This remark should not be taken as a flamboyant claim because the selection of Orbit as a language training partner by the foreign missionaries like the British and the American Embassies clearly depicts our academic excellence in the field of language teaching and test preparation. Furthermore, Orbit is praised by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and the candidates for its quality services as it is the largest iBT test centre in Nepal.
Carrying all the memories and the experiences of the past, Orbit has already set other milestones for the future. Orbit International College (OIC) established in 2007, is one of the new ventures of this type started by Orbit. Affiliated to Trivhuvan University, Nepal, OIC aims to empower the students with outstanding education, clairvoyant vision and new age competence. It is committed to provide the best guidance and teaching for students to explore their potential for a better life. It believes in integrative education that goes beyond the mere reproductive education and explores speculative knowledge. In the quest for excellence, OIC is striving to build educational partnership with highly reputed international universities and educational institutions to ensure that its students and faculties are up to date with the latest development in educational sector across the globe.
Similarly, another member of Orbit is the new MBBS preparation centre in town. Orbit MBBS program, launched from the year 2009, is the latest venture in the field of medical entrance preparation. This program has been strategically designed to impart the highest quality medical entrance preparation courses under the guidance of some of the most dedicated and motivated team of medical professionals and doctors all poised to bring out the best in the students who aspire to study medicine. Since medical education is comparatively expensive, only few students from city area can afford the quality preparation for medical entrance. But Orbit has provided free hostel facility to those students who can not afford it and are from out of Kathmandu valley. Our main objective through this project is to help students find the best possible medical career through medical counseling and guidance by the experts. In other words, Orbit MBBS preparation acts as the perfect nexus between the aspirant doctors and the pronounced doctor.
We are not guided by the very narrow boundaries of the business strategies. We are equally aware of our responsibility towards our people and country. Our true intention could be a matter of fun or question because we are not an NGO or INGO funded by the donors. Moreover, consultancies are often criticized for their unscrupulous manipulation of students’ and parents’ careers and minds. Orbit, however, wants to stand out as a benchmark and is working to give a clear message that all consultancies are not motivated by money but by moral as well as financial considerations. Just to walk this thought, we have offered free English language classes to housewives and lady members of the constituent assembly. Of course, we can not offer these kinds of sessions to every one and that was not our intention either. The objective of this program was to arouse interest among housewives so as they can learn something on their own using collaborative approach. To facilitate this process, we have formed a ‘Housewives Club’ where many interested housewives are honing their language proficiency, free of cost, every Sunday at Orbit.
‘Experience Nepal’ is another new program in Nepal initiated by Orbit. The primary objective of the program is to provide general knowledge on the history, geography, culture, religions, art and architecture of Nepal to NRN children who have lived abroad for many years and lost touch on their educational and cultural values while living abroad. As its name suggests, students learn about Nepal by experiencing the real life and cultures across the country. This program is not only limited to Nepalese but it is also open to foreigners who have a keen interest to learn about Nepal, its people, cultures, tradition and the general ways of life. It is a non-credit four-week long course especially designed to give an opportunity to those learners who wish to learn about Nepal in a short period of time.
Now Orbit’s system is not only certified according to international standard like ISO, its services have already expanded to Japan, China, the Philippines, and Australia through sister concerns and it is in the process of opening its offices in the UK, USA and other European countries in the near future. Orbit started its branch office in Pokhara in 2006 and will be opening its branches in other parts of the country soon. Plans are in progress to open information centers like the one that is there is Butwal even in other major cities of Nepal to impart genuine information in free of cost to all prospective students. Orbit is committed to state of the art technology and infrastructures to stay on the cutting edge. We are already equipped with digital labs so that we can offer the most sophisticated ambience to our students and help them accelerate their learning. Currently, we are working to upgrade the standard of other infrastructure to match the pace of the ever changing world.
We constantly strive to give students the tools to excel their learning and achieve higher in their respective endeavors. Well qualified teachers, up-to- date study materials, well equipped labs and full-fledged library are some of the components of Orbit standards. With understanding the fact that students are the primary asset, Orbit has always taken and will take every possible initiative to the direction of contributing positively to its students’ success. To suite pace of the time, we are in a plan to begin new courses on Teachers’ Training, Proposal Writing, Anchoring and Public Speaking. Plans are also in progress to expand our services by offering Translation and Editing services at Orbit.
We have taken sincere effort to reach the general public through its philanthropic works like the ones mentioned previously, keeping our business objectives side by side. Our objective is to spread the message that even private organizations like Orbit can contribute a lot to the society and can carry out their business objectives at the same time. But now Orbit has reached the crest and feels a sense of responsibility towards general public. As we are heading to be the education system of our field, Orbit management team is working to materialize the plan to make it an educational trust to address the overwhelming support form the students and general public.
